Today I came across an article by former SL critic, Chris Abraham, commenting about how SL is now all grown up and doing business. I commented there in response to his piece, however it got me thinking. If SL is only accessible via "the people you know" to guide you, then how and why did so many of us stay? And how, if at all, is this website helpful to the SL Community at large?
There are so many times when I'm slammed with IMs and notecards telling me about a place that I "MUST" check out, however not all the places make it into SL Things to Do because I'm either, a) too slammed with IMs and notecards, b) working on a LM of the Day, c) working in my first life; mostly answer "c"! That's why this post is going to be dedicated to readers' choice. The only thing you have to do is reply via a comment. When you're suggesting a place, you can make it a lengthy reply and tell about the place in detail with pictures, or just be brief and tell what the place is. One thing you must do is post the SLurl and tell the name, why it's your favorite, and the type of sim (PG, Mature, Adult). While you're welcome to self-promote, I'd like you to be mindful of the fact that we have quite a broad audience, and the sole purpose of this is to prove to the Second Life naysayers that there is content worth seeing, and a community surrounding said content.
So here are the steps to post your favorite LM of the Day or place we *MUST* see in Second Life.
Disclaimer: Hopefully we're an 18 and up crowd, but SL Things to Do cannot and will not be responsible for content posted by its readers, but it does reserve the right to edit or pull offensive or unrelated material.

Le Mont-Saint-Michel (English: Saint Michael's Mount) is a rocky tidal island and a commune in Normandy, France. It is located approximately one kilometre off the country's north coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches.
William de Volpiano, the Italian architect who had built the Abbey of Fécamp in Normandy, was chosen as building contractor by Richard II of Normandy in the 11th century. He designed the Romanesque church of the abbey, daringly placing the transept crossing at the top of the mount. Many underground crypts and chapels had to be built to compensate for this weight; these formed the basis for the supportive upward structure that can be seen today. Today Mont-Saint-Michel is seen as a Gothic-style church.
Another tried and true!!
I completely agree with you, David, this is a must see! It was another early favorite of the group, too, back when there was only an in-world group. But time and again, this is one of those placces that just must be visited to see how content creation can exceed expectations!

Inspire Space Park
Time and again, Inspire Space Park is where I go when I want to chill out, relax to soft music, and reflect in a less hectic environment. It was one of the very first places I was taken in SL, and it's still a place I take new people when they arrive on the grid.

Excellent place--3rd LM of the Day way back when!
Great idea, Ghosty! One of the tried and true LMs of the Day--can never really go wrong with Inspire Space Park. Was my 3rd LM of the Day sent out to the group back when there were only a few people in the group in world! I go back and visit every now and again to be sure it's still there and it never lets me down!
